Inspecting Carol
by Daniel Sullivan and The Seattle Repertory Co.
Samuel French Pub.
Holiday Comedy ~ 8m, 4f
Described in Samuel French catalog as...
"'A Christmas Carol' meets 'The Government Inspector' meets 'Noises Off' in this hilarious hit from Seattle. A man who asks to audition at a small theatre is mistaken for an informer for the National Endowment for the Arts. Everyone caters to the bewildered wannabe actor and he is given a role in the current production, A Christmas Carol. Everything goes wrong and hilarity is piled upon hilarity."
CAST of CHARACTERS
as described in script, (but completely subject to the director's whim!).
- Zorah Bloch - Founding director of The Soapbox Playhouse. Middle aged. Extremely self-concerned.
- Sidney Carlton - 60-ish. A founding member of the Company. Kind but somewhat addled.
Dorothy Tree Hapgood - His wife. 60-ish. English and unable to lose her accent. A founding member.
- Larry Vauxhall - Middle aged. Tough, intellectually vain Child of the 60's, still looking for a turn-on. A founding member.
- Phil Hewlitt - Middle aged. Small, obsessive, usually plays the ineffectual character in any Soapbox production. A founding member.
- Walter E. Parsons - African-American. 30-ish. Recently taken up acting again after a stint in the military. Good natured, excitable.
- Luther Beatty - A large eleven-year old. He's been playing Tiny Tim two years too long. Extremely friendly.
- Kevin Emery - A nervous man in the impossible position of managing director. Middle aged. Afraid of Zorah.
- Mary Jane McMann - Middle aged. A realist. Long ago realized the the Company hit bottom and now looks on as a bemused observer. A founding member.
- Betty Andrews - Middle aged. An inspector for the National Endowment for the Arts. A forbidding appearance. Bright red hair.
- Bart Frances - A pleasant youth. Dresses in motorcycle jacket and torn jeans.
- Wayne Wallace - 30-ish. In search of a new career in acting. No training, less talent, affable, eager to please.
This is very funny script where "little theatre" has a bit of fun with itself. I hope to see you at the auditions. If you cannot make the auditions, but are interested in the show, please contact me.

We Need Your Help!
The Old SchoolHouse Players will be holding work days at the theater every second
Tuesday of the month. These work days are needed in order to get all the projects we must do in the theater completed. All members are encouraged to come out and help as often as your schedules allow. It really takes every members assistance to help keep the theater looking good and running smoothly.
In this same vein, we need more members donating baked goods for all our shows. This is an ongoing problem and
our patrons really look forward to our goodies. If you are unable to bake something or do not have the time, perhaps you could make a monetary donation to so that we could purchase home baked items from our new hometown bakery that just opened. If you can help with
baked goods please let Emma Brown know what you can
bring/donate and for what date. Emma's number is
